Zevrix Solutions has announced the release of Instant Backup 1.0, a back up system for Mac OS X. It costs US$9.95.
Instant Backup is designed to work alongside Time Machine and other "complete" backup systems, but it provides the ability to back up selected files and folders online and locally. The software is aimed at users who "don't want to take any chances" with vital files, according to the developer.
You can specify backup locations, such as an FTP server or local disk backup location. The software can create a disk image (.DMG) for each file or folder you drop on its icon, and it can encrypt and password-protect the contents as well.
Instant Backup requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
